MSc Position: MR-Compatible Catheter Mechanism Design
Description
This MSc position will focus on developing a novel MR-compatible concentric push–pull catheter mechanism for minimally invasive robotic interventions. You will design, prototype, and test catheter mechanisms that work safely within the MR scanner, ensuring mechanical accuracy and thermal safety.
Successful applicants will gain experience in:
- Continuum and concentric-tube robotics
- MR-compatible mechanical design
- Fabrication and prototyping of catheters
- Experimental validation inside MR scanners
Education & Experience
Applicant should
- have background in Mechanical, Biomedical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering
- be motivated for hands-on prototyping and testing
- have good communication skills in English
- be able to work on-site at METU Ankara
Desirable skills include:
- CAD design and 3D printing
- Mechatronics (hardware/software integration)
- Embedded systems (optional)
- Knowledge of MR safety considerations (optional)
