High-Performance Electromagnetic Actuator

Description

We are developing next-generation high-performance electromagnetic actuation systems to power medical robots for minimally invasive procedures. A key challenge is the cooling of compact, high-current electromagnets. Your task will focus on the design and integration of advanced cooling systems, including heat exchangers, liquid cooling, and fluid circulation systems, to ensure stable and safe operation under high loads.

Successful applicants will work on interdisciplinary research projects spanning exciting fields, including:

  • Electromagnetic actuation systems
  • Heat exchangers and thermal-fluid systems
  • Cooling design for high-power devices
  • Mechatronic system design
  • Magnetism and materials

Education & Experience

Applicant should

  • have background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or Physics
  • have high motivation
  • have good oral and written communication skills in English
  • be able to work on-site at METU Ankara

Applicant should have experience/knowledge in following areas:

  • Thermal-fluid systems and heat exchangers
  • Cooling design (liquid cooling, circulation, pumps, or manifolds)
  • Mechatronics (integrated hardware/software systems)
  • Programming (C++, Python, ROS)
  • CAD design
  • Embedded systems
  • Electromagnetics and magnetism (optional)
  • Control theory (optional)
